Locker Service Terms
1. What this is
UIL Locker is a free testing service hosted on the author’s own infrastructure. It is part of the
same independent research project described in 00-RESEARCH-SOFTWARE-NOTICE.md. It is
experimental. It is offered so that people can try the Locker; it is not a commercial service.
2. No fee
There is no fee and no payment for the current service. No goods or services are sold. Donations
(see 01-TERMS-OF-USE.md) are voluntary and are not payment for the Locker.
3. No SLA, no availability commitment
There is no service level agreement. There is no uptime guarantee, no backup guarantee, no response time and no support obligation. The service may be slow, unavailable, or wrong. Use it only for data you can afford to lose or can replace.
4. Quota
No enforced quota is applied to the current free testing service; per-account limits may be introduced with notice. Any such limits may be changed or enforced at any time, and uploads beyond them may be refused.
5. Data may be deleted
Uploaded data and account data may be deleted at any time, including during maintenance,
incident response, migrations, or if the service is discontinued. Data is kept until deleted — no
automatic expiry. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose. See also
03-PRIVACY-POLICY.md.
6. Suspension and discontinuation
The service, or your access to it, may be suspended or discontinued at any time. Where it is practical, reasonable notice is given, and immediately where required by an incident. There is no obligation to keep the service running and no compensation if it stops.
7. Upload rules
You must not upload:
- anything unlawful, or that you do not have the right to store or share;
- malware or code intended to harm others;
- personal data of other people without a lawful basis;
- content that infringes copyright, trademark or other rights;
- content whose loss you cannot tolerate.
You are responsible for what you upload and for having a copy elsewhere.
8. Your responsibility
You must keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose. Locker is not a backup strategy (see
00-RESEARCH-SOFTWARE-NOTICE.md). Liability is governed by
02-LIMITATION-OF-LIABILITY.md; where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the amount
you paid — zero for the current free service.
9. Termination and deletion on request
You may stop using the service at any time and request deletion of your account and data by
contacting contact@uillabs.com. Deletion requests are handled within a reasonable time, subject to
backups and legal retention requirements.
10. Governing law and venue
Norwegian law, Norwegian courts, with the mandatory-rights carve-outs in
02-LIMITATION-OF-LIABILITY.md.
11. FUTURE PAID TIER — NOT IN FORCE
This section is a placeholder. It is not in force and no paid tier currently exists.
If the Locker is ever offered for a fee, the following must be done before any payment is taken:
- an entity or registered sole proprietorship must exist to invoice and contract;
- consumer-law compliance must be in place, including the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven) where it applies, and EEA consumer rights;
- VAT and accounting registration must be in place, and prices shown with applicable VAT;
- the payment provider and its terms must be identified (not applicable — no paid tier exists);
- refund, cancellation and billing rules must be published;
- these terms must be revised, reviewed by counsel, and reissued as a new version.
Until that happens, any payment for the Locker is not validly accepted and is not required.
